Series Scoring Procedures & Policies:
For example: Male Athlete A wins the overall triathlon race with a finishing time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and :30 seconds. (1:02.30). Male Athlete B comes in 2nd
place with a time of 1 hour 3 minutes and :45 seconds (1:03.45). The TD for Male Athlete A is 0:00.00...since he was the overall winner (not including Time
Reduction Bonus...to be explained!) The TD for Male Athlete B would be +0:01.15, since he was 1 minute and 15 seconds behind the overall winner.
You can notify up to July 31. So even if you have raced in series events prior to July 31 and have not notified/registered, your results can still be used towards
the series and are retroactive. No series registrants will be accepted after July 31.
Series Scoring Procedures & Policies:
- Participants are scored using a "tour-style" scoring system in which the lowest score, or "TIME DIFFERENCE" (TD for short) will win.
- What is the "TIME DIFFERENCE" or TD? The TD is simply subtracting the athlete's finishing time from the overall winner in that specific gender
category, male/female.
For example: Male Athlete A wins the overall triathlon race with a finishing time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and :30 seconds. (1:02.30). Male Athlete B comes in 2nd
place with a time of 1 hour 3 minutes and :45 seconds (1:03.45). The TD for Male Athlete A is 0:00.00...since he was the overall winner (not including Time
Reduction Bonus...to be explained!) The TD for Male Athlete B would be +0:01.15, since he was 1 minute and 15 seconds behind the overall winner.
- PRIOR NOTIFICATION/registration (free) IS REQUIRED. Athletes must notify CHAMP via "contact page." There is no separate series fee (only
individual event fees will apply), but in order to be eligible for series awards and prizes, athletes must be registered for the series.
You can notify up to July 31. So even if you have raced in series events prior to July 31 and have not notified/registered, your results can still be used towards

- Athletes MUST compete in a MINIMUM of THREE Regional events in order to be eligible for overall series awards. Participants can compete in more
than three, but the lowest three TIME DIFFERENCES (TD) will be used towards overall results.
- Time Reduction Bonuses...the bigger the race, the bigger the Time Reduction Bonus. There is a ONE SECOND/PARTICIPANT (specific to
male/female). For example, if a race has 65 female participants competing, than every finishing female athlete will subtract :65 seconds from their
Time Difference only (they will not subtract it from their overall finishing time). ALL OLYMPIC DISTANCE EVENTS WILL RECEIVE A DOUBLE TIME
REDUCTION BONUS for rewarding participation in a longer event.
- Athletes MUST compete in the Championship Event #7.
- There is no series entry fee...only individual race entry fees will apply. However, notification/registration is required. (see above)
- Series awards will recognize the top 3 overall lowest TD for both male and female along with the top 3 lowest TD age group winners. Age groupings
to be determined based on participation. Series awards will be presented alongside the North Shore Border War awards ceremony at Geneva State
Park on Sunday, September 20.
- In the event of a cancelled finale/championship, the current leaders following the Greater Cleveland Triathlon will be deemed series winners.
- Athletes participating in series agree to series scoring as interpreted by CHAMP Racing Series Directors & independent event directors.
