The SummiTri is a great, fun local tri, but the only problem...says some athletes, are the multiple "u-turns" on the bike course.
We have adjusted the course the ELIMINATE THE U-TURNS!!! (...It is still 11 Miles)
The 08 event bike course is adjusted slightly to eliminate the "u-turns." The course will travel the same basic route and head southbound on Munroe Falls
Road into Tallmadge. It will head east bound on Eastwood, and then cut through (take a left) on a side road called Washburn Road. The peaceful sideroad
will take riders to East Road, and then head west (take a right), back to Munroe Falls Road and head back to the park (going right on Munroe Falls Road or
northbound). 11 Miles.
BIKE COURSE...PLEASE NOTE (updated as of June 20). The mapmyrun link to the bike course has been slightly adjusted.
The street names and basic route are the same, but the direction has slightly changed.
The adjustment is: BIKERS WILL EXIT THE PARK AND HEAD EAST (RT) ON S. RIVER ROAD, AND THEN SOUTHBOUND ON MUNROE FALLS ROAD (AS
NORMAL). BUT....INSTEAD OF GOING EAST (LEFT) AT EAST (as the mapmyrun directions indicate) YOU WILL CONTINUE SOUTHBOUND ON MUNROE
FALLS ROAD ALL THE WAY TO EASTWOOD (aka, "the six corners."). THEN, TAKE A LEFT ON EASTWOOD...PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS...THIS IS A 90 DEGREE
LEFT-HAND TURN. (a "soft" left will take you off course!!! Follow ground arrows).
THEN, ONCE ON EASTWOOD, YOU WILL TAKE A LEFT ONTO WASHBURN, THEN ANOTHER LEFT ONTO EAST. THEN A RIGHT BACK ONTO MUNROE
FALLS ROAD. So basically, you will looping counter-clockwise on the loop, instead of the clockwise direction (as noted on the mapmyrun directions) We
will have updated course maps in the goody bags for review.

SO WHAT'S UP WITH THE "ELITE" DIVISION THING? The Elite Division is basically another category for those who are competing for the
overall race title. Those who are not registered in the ELITE category are not eligible for the overall awards. They would be eligible only for their
respective age group awards. This is done because awards will be distributed upon the finishing process due to a park curfew of 9:45am...that
is when the CHAMP Crew must be packed up and out of the park!...hence, the early starting time of 7:10am...OUCH! Post race food and
supplies will be available as well as race awards, however, there will be no awards ceremony.

| ATTENTION PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS. The park is closed to the public (not including participants and spectators, of course!), so you will ENTER THROUGH THE MAINTENANCE DRIVE which is approx. 200 yards passed (east of) the main gate. The main gate will be locked/closed. Do not panic, simply continue on your way on S. River Road (eastbound about 200 yards) and you will see the MAINTENANCE DRIVE. Take a right into the drive and DRIVE WITH CAUTION, AS BIKERS MAY BE WARMING-UP! |
