Bulletin Area & Q & A
All Half-iron distance finishers will receive an event-day finishers medal along with overall and age group awards.
Water bottles for the bottle exchange at bike course fluid stations will be compliments of Hammer Nutrition.
The Half Iron Swim Course will have athletes swim in a counter-clockwise direction in an elongated triangle. The half distance will swim around the GREEN Bouys.
The Sprint/Olympic Division will swim around the DOUBLE ORANGE bouys. 2 Laps for the Olympic and 1 Lap for the Sprint.
Bike course markings have been placed. GREEN arrows and mile markings are for the "Great Western" Half. "G"reen for "G"WRT.
The ORANGE arrows and mile markings are for the "Olym/Sprint" Course. "O"range for "O"lym/Sprint.
PLEASE NOTE the following bike course split between the Olym/Sprint Course & the GWRT Half Course. The course will split at mile 2.8 of the bike course at the intersection of Cable Line Road and SR225. The GWRT Half will turn right on SR225 and head southbound to the Half Course, and the Olym/Sprinters will turn left and head northbound on SR225. See picture below.
Course markings at mile 2.8 Cable Line/SR 225 Intersection.
The 2014 run course map has been updated and renovated, hopefully, for your benefit. The course will no longer have the super-switchbacks & serpentinie dizziness! Approx. half of the run course will be closed-to-traffic.
PLEASE NOTE: THE OLY/SPRINT RUN COURSE AND THE HALF RUN COURSE WILL SPLIT at approximately the 2.25 mile mark (at the Alliance Road/Cable Line Road intersection). The O/S Course will turn left back into the park and the Half Course will bend right continuing eastbound on Cable Line Road.
RUN COURSE arrows will be RED.
"R"ED for "R"UN!
Q & A
Yup...a good idea as water temps are in the 60's. Do-able without a wetsuit but wetsuits are recommended.
The water depth begins at 5-6 feet and drops quickly to 15-20 out and around the buoys. Touchable depth is only located at the start/finish area of the swim.
Is the Race Director Single?
Nope...He's taken by the "tall lenky lady" that runs around the races self-laughing!
Can we pick-up packet race-day!
Yup, yup you can beginning around 5:00am or when the staff wakes up! Saturday pick-up is NOT required and there will be no racking on Saturday because CHAMP is too cheap to provide security.
What is provided at the fluid stations?
Fluid stations #1 & #3 will have Gatorade, water, fruit, crackers, HAMMER Gels, and sponges (to cool the bod!)
Station #2 will only have HEED & water and HAMMER Gels.
Bike Station #1 (out of TA) will have a bottle exchange of Gatorade & water.
